Maintaining your new bright smile
- After teeth whitening, avoid coffee, tea, wine, beer, and juices for at 24 hours. The temporary opening of your teeth's pores makes them more prone to staining. This will help maintain your bright smile longer
- As well, after teeth whitening avoid eating tomatoes, spinach, beets, red sauces, berries, chocolates or any other foods that have the propensity to stain your teeth. A good guideline is if it will stain a white shirt, it will stain your teeth.
- Avoiding the above-mentioned beverages and foods your whitening shade should improve by up to one shade lighter over the next 3 days.
- Heavy caffeine drinker? Coffee, soda or tea? Drink with a straw as this will help to minimize the amount of contact the beverage has on the front your teeth.
- It is important to rinse your mouth or brush your teeth immediately after meals to eliminate sugars, acids, and caffeine from your teeth. Food and beverages can stain and discolor your teeth, leading to a loss of whiteness. The longer these substances remain on your teeth, the more they can affect their color.
- Refrain from smoking of any kind as this is a significant cause of discoloration and one of the hardest stains to remove.
